Do these statements ound too strong? Do they seem like exaggerations? Scripture says,
"As he thinketh in his heart, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7)
What you think about or hold dear is what you become. When you focus upon condemning statements or fearful thoughts, you tend to stay in that place. Whatever you think about is what you will tend to be. Condemnation and curses engender despair and hopelessness, which usually foster negative thoughts and hurtful, destructive habits.
God knows it is difficult for you to put aside other people's words and memories of their actions, but He gives you the necessary power. He gives you the ability to hear and understand eternal reality. And then He offers even more. He gives you creativity and giftedness.
What is creativity? What is giftedness? And what will foster their growth? The two conditions most conducive to encouraging creativity and giftedness are 1) being in a safe place and 2) being in an affirming place.
Be encouraged as you read the partial listing of spiritual gifts and visualize yourself as the very special creation of God. You are special. If you take the "spiritual gifts inventory" you will be able to recognize one or more of the specific gifts that have been given to you as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ.
Then you'll be able to answer this question. "What would I be doing for God if I weren't afraid?"
