"Transformed for Glory" was written to address this need.
Believers are slipping away into dark and murky waters. What leads them to leave safety? What lures them into the death grip of icy cold?
Research shows the multiplicity of causal factors. Most people who say they love the Lord do NOT just jump right out of the boat and joyfully indulge in sin or turn and quickly swim away from Jesus. NO, most of us run our fingers through the waters of pleasure or dangle our feet over the side into temptation. We slowly get captivated by small things... like the play of light on the water's surface or the small silver flicker of fish streaking by. We don't want to miss out on any good thing. Surely this one small thing can't hurt us. And the lifeboat may feel like it's confining and stifling our style.
One thing that has great power to lure us away from Christ is food. Food tantalizes our taste buds...
It caresses our sensors of smell...
It tempts the eye with images of delight...
It persuades the mind with memories...
It emboldens our fingertips to reach out.
Yes, Satan knows about the generosity of God and His endless love. God has made food and given it as a daily gift to nourish our bodies and please our senses. Even the textures of food add satisfaction.
But we can take this God given pleasure to an extreme. We can be seemingly willing to give up our salvation for a bit of "pottage"... Or steak, or French fries, or pizza, or doughnuts... The list of craved and overindulged foods goes on and on.
Obesity and being overweight are causing death. Obesity and being overweight are drowing people in the icy, murky, dark waters of sin. The love of food is drawing people away from the Messiah, Christ Jesus. It is time for the children of God to become proactive and make the choice of health...knowing these choices are also for eternal health!

You might be thinking Karen is too old or too thin or too plain or too different to understand your story. Who is she to design and write this program? Sisters and brothers, Karen knows about temptation. But I also know about the sweet "koinonia" of fellowship. It is in our Christian communities that healthy change is fostered. Here is where we learn to put off the old sinful habits and put on the righteousness and holiness of Yahweh, the Ancient of Days. It is His Word that teaches us this powerful dynamic (Ephesians 4:22-32). We learn to look to God for knowledge and we begin to practice using His wisdom.
With gentle accountability we gegin life habits of health. We stand beside one another and assist each other.
Ecclesiastes 4:9...
Two are better than one;
Because they have a good reward for their labour.
Galatians 6:2...
Bear ye one anothers' burdens,
And so fulfill the law of Christ.
We choose not to ignore or deny patterns of sin. We choose to step out in faith saying: "YES and AMEN. I am a child of the King. I am filled with resurrection power. God is able to do exceeding abundantly more... than I could ask or image."
Let's join together and be transformed fore the Glory of God.
Choose to say "YES and AMEN" !
